What We Need To Build Our Own 2 Channel RC Car

It’s not that easy and it’s not that hard to build our own rc car.  Let alone it’s just a 2 channel RC car.  Regardless how many channel you want to implement, this is still the main things that you need to posses before starting to ensemble and build the rc car.

  1. Radio transmitter (TX) or simply called as “radio” or “tx”.
  2. Radio reciever (RX) or simply called as “reciever” or ‘rx”.
  3. Electric motor or also called “motor”.
  4. Servo
  5. Electronic Speed Control or people always called just ESC.
  6. Battery pack
  7. Chassis
  8. Gears
  9. Axles
  10. Rims
  11. Tyres
  12. Body

However, there’s additional thing that you need to posses as well.

  1. Battery charger
  2. Soldering kit
  3. Screw drivers
  4. Insulation tape
  5. Heat shrink tube
  6. Scissor
  7. Cutter

There will be article for each of these “ingredients”.

Never Be Too Proud To Learn From Someone Else

I have totally ZERO knowledge about making a truck RC, let alone a rock crawler type which is much more complicated than ordinary truck because it have a complicated articulation that makes it able to “crawl” among those rocks while other type of RC car cannot.

Finding The Body Shell For My OEM RC Car Project

In my last post titled OEM 2 Channel RC Car Project, I was talking about making the body frame out of cotton buds sticks.  Well, that is possible.  Nothing doubtful about that.  But I have changed my mind.  I’m gonna build this OEM RC by just by buying kits.  Well let’s be flexible with this project.  So I will start by finding the body shell for this OEM RC car.

If you are with me into this project, first we need to determine what scale should we choose.  We need to consider the popularity, and parts availability.  You might not want to play this RC by yourself don’t you?  And you don’t want to end up looking for the parts that have been phased out or very hard to find, and even if you find it, it will be a very expensive investment.  No, we don’t want that.  We want to build high end RC with low budget as possible.

OEM 2 Channel RC Car Project

Original Equipment Manufacturer 2 Channel RC Car Project would be my first project about my concept, an OEM RC.  I choose to opt-in into 2 channel RC car because it is easy to accomplish rather than a full fledge 4 or more channel rc car or even a simple 2 channel rc helicopter.  Although both of them are just a 2 channel rc, there are big differeces between an rc car and rc helicopter.  An rc car is hundreds times easy to achieve.

So I started with identifying what will I need in this project.  The technology, the items and parts, was it available at online or offline stores or do I need to make it on my own.  I really don’t wish to make my own parts except for the body and “chassis” of this rc car.
